More than exercise, Be Happy Now Yoga classes

use the physical postures of Hatha Yoga as a “place” to practice the fundamental purpose of yoga: allowing peace and happiness to arise now, whatever the circumstances –whether on or off the mat.

Our twice-weekly practice begins with practical philosophy based on the eight limbs of yoga and incorporates one of these tools into the sequence of each class.

Postures are regarded as a road, not a destination, so whether you’re a beginner or expert, you are invited to come stretch your mind, body and spirit with us.

Teacher:  Judy Schwiebert, RYT, was first inspired to practice yoga by by Mary Beth Markus at A Desert Song in Phoenix over 20 years ago.

In 2007, she completed the 500 hour Advanced Studies and Teacher Training program with Eric Walrabenstein’s at Yoga Pura in Phoenix.

She  believes that the  postures of hatha yoga not only provide opportunities to build strength and flexibility in the body, but more significantly, a “place” to observe the internal habits that may keep us feeling broken or separate.  “I have found that the process of stepping back from chattering thoughts allows us to see ourselves as more than the mind or body.  The quiet allows us to experience not only peace but a deep connection with all that is. “

She has found that the advancement of one’s yoga practice has less to do with what happens on the mat, than it does with how far off the mat one can take the practice of being happy, being at ease with what’s happening now
